Damn those eyes,
that with such innocence looked upon me
without knowing how instantly they had
captured my heart in their stare.
Condemn those irises and their
ever flowing green waters
lined with oh so rich silt
nourishing the pupils that lay behind.
I should have known my heart
would be stolen and caged behind your eyelashes,
I should have known, I will be lost
in those serene, bright patterns.
If eyes are windows to the soul,
I beg of you to keep yours always open,
I want to be the keeper of the soul
that sleeps away beyond your sight.
Please let me become as small as a tear,
and let me soak your eyes so that they remain bright and clear,
let me become part of that wondering look,
that dreamer’s glance you hide.
Curse those eyes,
because at the moment mine fell upon them
they ran away into your eyesight and
left me blinded, with only one memory, yours.
